Day 1 BOGOTA / Hotel Chico Imperial Suits (D)
Arrive in Bogotá. Bogotá is located at 7500ft elevation, nestled in a large plateau in the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes. Night in Bogota.
EXT Day 02: LIBANO / Hotel Pantagora (B,L,D)
Morning visit to Florida park in Bogota for its marsh habitat to get Silver-throated Spinetail, Bogota Rail and Apolinaris Wren, all Colombian endemics. Late morning we will drive downhill to San Francisco’s Jardin Encando to enjoy hummingbird feeders—the target is Indigo-capped Hummingbird (endemic), plus Lazunile Sabrewing and maybe the spectacular Ruby-topaz Hummingbird.
EXT Day 03: Victoria / Hotel La Juanas (B,L,D)
Early morning we’ll visit a nice forest close to the town to look for Yellow-headed Brush Finch and Tolima Dove (both endemics). Lunch in town and then drive to la Victoria.
EXT Day 04: BOGOTA / Hotel Chico Imperial Suits (B,L,D)
Early morning we will drive to Bellavista to explore a nice patch of forest that has endemics like Beautiful Woodpecker, White-mantled Barbet, Sooty Ant Tanager and Antioquia Bristle Tyrant. We’ll also seek White-bibbed Manakin, White-bearded Manakin, Golden-hooded Manakin and others before we drive back to Bogota for the night.
EXT Day 05: EXPLORE BOGOTA ON YOUR OWN (B)
Today will be downtime to explore Bogotá on your own or with locally operated optional tours (costs not included) for your interests in history, architecture or culture.
EXT Day 06: BOGOTA BIRDING (B,L,D)
Today will offer some clean-up birding in the mountain around Bogotá as decided by Edison. .
EXT Day 07: Flights to Barranquilla (B,L,D)
After a relaxing morning we will depart for the local airport and fly to Barranquilla. We will await the arrival of others not joining the extension.
NOTE: This extension is will be shared with a few participants from the Nov 9-17 Santa Marta Tour as their post-trip extension.
Typical hotels will be used.
