Honduras: Pico Bonito – Copan Extension

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA Our optional 4-day/3-night extension will take us to the beautiful Hacienda San Lucas from where we will visit the Mayan ruins of Copan.

Copán Ruinas is a tranquil oasis of ancient culture and sublime nature nestled in the foothills of western Honduras, just 7 miles from the Guatemala border.
For years, Copán has been renowned for its magnificent Maya Ruins, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site believed by archeologists to be the cultural center of the Maya world.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to explore this beautiful Mayan site yet stay in another of Honduras’ luxury lodges. The beautiful gardens are full of birds here as well!

    $1025 per person, double occupancy, continuing from Pico Bonito tour

    Deposit $500. Full payment required 120 days prior to departure date.

     

    Price based on double occupancy. If a single room is preferred, a single supplement fee of $150 will be assessed.

    Day 1 - Depart Pico Bonito and drive to Hacienda San Lucas

    After breakfast at Pico Bonito Lodge, we will drive to Hacienda San Lucas, birding along the way. We will arrive late afternoon with time to bird the property for before dinner.

     

    DAY 2 & 3 - Copán Ruins

    Today we will explore these incredible ruins, learning their history while birding the surrounding forests. We will bring a boxed lunch and return to our lodge for evening relaxing and some birding as well.

     

    DAY 4 - Return home from Extension

    Spending the night in a candlelit San Lucas room is a truly enchanting, unforgettable experience.

     

    San Lucas offers eight distinctive rooms with private bath, hot water, solar lighting, and ceiling fans. Hand-crafted from local cedar have firm, comfortable mattresses.

     

    Their five-course candlelight dinners are accompanied by unique South American wines. And the hearty country breakfasts are the stuff of legend in the Copán valley.

     

    Los Sapos, the on site Mayan ruin (host to mysterious fertility rituals), is surrounded by beautiful gardens filled with birds!
