Three Cooper’s Hawk Chicks
Jun 28, 2009 | by Adrian Binns
The immature female Cooper’s Hawk and her mate have done well to raise three chicks. All three look healthy. One of them, possibly the oldest was standing up behind and to the left of the nest, moving about and stretching its wings. You can see that they all have immature brown feathers coming in, as well as their downy white feathers. Another week and most of the downy feathers will have been replaced. On the center bird we can even see the streaks on the breast that will make up part of its immature plumage.
