Our New House!

Scarlet Tanager |
We have now had 27 species from our new yard! On Monday Lisa and I bought a new house in Yardley, PA, and on two short mornings (about 15 minutes of ‘birding’ each) I totaled 26 species from our yard.
Monday morning, when we arrived for our final walk-through before closing, I got out of my Jeep and was greeted by the “chck-brrrr” of a Scarlet Tanager. When I pointed out the call to Lisa, the tanager graciously began to sing of our arrival to the neighborhood. What a fine welcome!
Other nice migrants heard on these mornings were Black-throated Green Warbler, Black-and-White Warbler and Northern Parula. This evening I added number 27, another migrant… a Wood Thrush that was tuning up in our wooded back yard!
As we get settle in over the upcoming weeks (we are currently using camp stools and sleeping bags) I will continue to look and listen for more birds and share more Tales from Emerald Drive!
