Ring-necked Duck

On Thursday afternoon, during the San Diego Bird Fest, I offered a classroom workshop on nature and bird photography to about 18 participants. The following morning, with help from local photographer, Gerald Tietje, we offered a morning field trip to follow up with what was learned in the class.

American Coot

Gerry’s suggestion of visiting Santee Lakes to photograph waterfowl turned out to be a fantastic idea. The morning light was excellent and we had wonderful blue skies that created incredible reflections.

American Widgeon

The variety of waterfowl were not only numerous but also very cooperative!

Pied-billed Grebe

Everyone had a fun morning and got the creative juices flowing as they put into practice what was learned in class!
