Our final landing, shortened by our incredible Leopard Seal encounter, was no less spectacular. Bergy bits (yes, that is their technical name!) of many sizes covered the shoreline making for difficult footing.

Then they came… Gentoo Penguins surrounded us seeming to bid us farewell. Obviously cautious to enter the water so soon after multiple attacks on their brethren, they surprisingly had no fear of the humans that had crowded their beach.

I struggled to make myself get into the last zodiac. I did not want to leave! The magic of sharing this adventure to the frozen continent with Lisa had re-awakened my joy of discovery and creativity.
