If you have not heard about this forthcoming ID Guide, I recommend that you check it out. I feel that this is going to take bird identification to a whole new level, as it takes into consideration size, structure, shape, and behavior.

This link takes you to the Barnes & Noble page where you can preview 5 plates along with a text except from the book, and an 8 minute video clip of Richard Crossley explaining his birding philosophy for creating this ID Guide.

Note: the book is due to be published February 2011.

I think this is an amazing accomplishment by my friend Richard Crossley. He has presented compelling photographs of birds in the context of their habitat and behavior. He shows myriad  images, depicting each species in multiple plumages and situations in which we are likely to encounter them, near and far.

I would be curious to know what you think of this new concept.
