White-cheeked Pintails

The early morning light as we left La Parguera made the pintail’s cheeks glow. The Yellow-shouldered Blackbirds were active along with all the expected species. We headed back to Laguna Cartagena to find the West Indian Whistling Ducks. Luck was with us!

We had a long drive ahead, so we grabbed some fruit frappes from a roadside stand and continued on!

Red-tailed Hawk and Gray Kingbird

After lunch at Sizzler along the way we arrived at the ball field Comerio around 3:30pm. The right time to see the Plain Pigeons come in to roost in the African Tulips around this part of town.

Plain Pigeon

Not typical behavior, we actually had a Plain Pigeon perch nearly overhead as we stood in the school parking lot! The pollen covered throat shown gold in the afternoon light. After many stunning scope views we headed off to Casa Cubuy!
