After the ‘day of the Orcas’ we found a quiet bay in which to anchor for the night. The morning’s low tide beckoned us to venture ashore.

The river offered more opportunities to test photographic skills! At high tide this area would be a flat bay as the tide line was at least 5 feet above this level.

A brief walk into the forest’s dense edge offered macro possibilities, including this wonderful little Single-Delight or Wood Nymph (Moneses uniflora) standing only 3 inches tall.

We kept a watchful eye for Brown Bears as this island is known for them. However, in recent years their numbers, and hence our sightings, have dwindled. Extreme hunting pressure is the most likely culprit.
