Tisa (right) is the charismatic sling-shot toting young Samburu who is employed by the Serena to keep those pesky cheeky Vervet Monkeys away from the dining area during daylight meal times. He is very keen on birds taking great pride in having Red-billed Hornbills feeding out of his hand, though this morning at breakfast it was only Dodson’s Bulbuls and Rufous Chatterers that paid us a visit.

He is always eager to tell me about something new that I may not have seen here before. Last visit it was a pair of Narina Trogons that was highly unusual for the compound. Today he was elated as he came running to find me after lunch to tell me that he had found something he could not identify and that he wanted me to come and see. He was certain I would be able to photograph it. It was a Little Sparrowhawk (below) that had just caught a weaver and was beginning to pluck the feathers off it. He was right!
