Getting ready for a trip is not all that difficult after so many years of leading tours. However, getting all the office work completed before departure is often stressful, hence the reason there has been few blog posts recently!

Brochures to print, letters to send bank transfers to make, bills to pay… the list goes on. I am not complaining, mind you, just stating fact. I am blessed to be able to lead such a life. I am doing what I love to do — travel, find new birds, take pictures and enjoy nature’s most wonderful places among the camaraderie of like-minded folks.

The job itself is not easy, few things that reap great reward are easy. A lot of planning goes into every trip, including the brochures and other paperwork that accompany each tour. I have been working on that stuff for the past week making sure all was in place while both Adrian and I travel.

Adrian is away for two months in Africa — Kenya and Tanzania. I envy him, I have yet to visit that continent. I will be in Peru for the next 2+ weeks. A new country for me. This is a “scouting tour.” I have a group of folks who have traveled with me on many occasions and know the type of trips we offer. They are just as excited about visiting this new location as I!

Many of the birds will be familiar as they are also found in neighboring Ecuador. Many, however, will be new. I have been studying the field guide and listening to the CDs and am confident in my skills. I will also have a local guide with me who came highly recommended.

Two weeks will fly by. It always does when having fun! I expect to have some Internet access from time to time, so I plan to blog a bit when possible. I know Adrian will try as well, though connections for him will be fewer and farther between.

So please bear with us and keep checking to see if we were able to connect to update you on our travels!
