This morning we motored down the Madre de Dios a shorter distance and walked about a mile to get to Cocha Blanco, another oxbow lake. Greeted by a very cooperative Hoatzin we were slow to board our boat, but that also allowed for good views of a Green Kingfisher.

A similar boat as the previous day, we had the added comfort of beautiful weather and great visibility.

Our boatmen move the catamaran-like platform smoothly and quietly.

Allowing close views of Wattled Jacanas (adult above, juvenile below).

White-winged Swallows flew all around us, often briefly perching for a quick view or photo.

Chestnut-fronted Macaws flew noisily overhead, as did Blue-and-Yellow, Red-bellied and Scarlet Macaws. Many parrot species were seen as well, including:White-Bellied, Blue-headed and Orange-cheeked Parrots.

These Horned Screamers were one of the highlights of our early morning on the lake.

Nice catch… made the correction! Maybe I should take some time to actually look at my pictures before posting!
