It was a beautiful Friday afternoon, beckoning for an outdoor adventure. Lisa and I visited Chanticleer Garden in Wayne, PA to enjoy the late-day sun. Appropriately, the sunflower garden, which was attracting many goldfinches and bumblebees also attracted us!

Sunflowers of many colors and in varying degrees of ‘newness’ offered innumerable photographic opportunities!

As I photographed a bumblebee on one of the sunflowers I noticed how the late-day sun created a wonderful shadow at certain positions and took many images in an attempt to capture the patterns.

All of these images were shot with my new Canon 7D and Sigma 150/2.8 Macro.

Hi Kevin – great photos. What lens are you using for the insect photos?
