I love this butterfly. Scanning my image libraries I was drawn to this shot again and again. Typically when photographing butterflies we use a telephoto or a macro lens, each of which offer less depth of field causing an out-of-focus background.

For this image I had a wide-angle lens on the camera and chose not to change it. I moved in very slowly, hoping it would be a cooperative subject. It was! the wide-angle view allowed the background to appear sharper creating a perspective not typically seen with this type of subject.
