BING-BANG-Bong!… Another beautiful, muted gray morning as we rose for breakfast. Looking out the port hole the view was incredible. Giant icebergs towered high above the water’s surface. Intense hues of blue and white above… and green, teal and deep blue below the surface.
After breakfast we launched the zodiacs to explore the residents of this wonderful seascape.
Gentoo Penguins joined us, our daily welcoming committee. They porpoised behind and alongside the zodiacs as we motored toward our landing site.
At our landing we found our first Adelie Penguin! Actual, though I missed getting the shot, there were four species of penguin in one location along the shoreline… Gentoo, Chinstrap, Adelie and Macaroni!
The skies grew dark as snow engulfed the distant ship. We motored back as the wind picked up and swirled the large flakes all around our heads. A hot lunch was a welcome sight!
