Introducing Lee Hoy

Lee Hoy – Skyline Trail Overlook – Davis Mountains State Park – 15 March, 2019

If you come across Lee Hoy and his camera anywhere in the world (Texas, the Amazon River, Costa Rica, Yellowstone) you can be sure you’ll find a quick smile, infectious enthusiasm, and a generous spirit.

For Lee Hoy, everything begins and ends with Big Bend National Park. While visiting the park with his grandparents in 1988, with his first good camera in hand, Lee noticed a strange bird and took a picture of it – then he wanted to know what it was.

Everything simply “clicked”! A lifetime passion for wildlife photography and a fascination with the Big Bend region was born. It has carried Lee through the twists and turns of academia, career paths, and life’s other journeys.

Most recently, it has brought him into the Wildside family, as a guide and photography instructor!

Lee Hoy will be co-leading an exciting array of photography adventures with us, heading to Yellowstone January 2020, then to Costa Rica, the Peruvian Amazon River, Glacier National ParkPanama, and the Galapagos Islands in 2021.

In addition he will be leading his fantastic “Summer Storms & Starry Skies Photography Workshop” in Big Bend for a second year with Wildside.

We are thrilled to have Lee on our team, and look forward to what he has to teach us, as much as everything he’ll offer to you!
